A Promise to Pay is a commitment from your customer to pay specific invoices by a certain date. This helps you track payment expectations and manage cash flow more effectively.
Once created, you may need to remove invoices from an existing Promise to Pay or cancel it entirely if circumstances change.
How to Remove Invoices from an Active Promise to Pay
1. Open the Promise to Pay
Navigate to the customer's profile and locate the active Promise to Pay you want to edit.
Click on it to open the Edit Promise to Pay screen.
2. Remove Invoices
In the Invoices field, you'll see all invoices currently associated with this Promise to Pay.
Click the X button next to each invoice you want to remove
The invoice will be deselected and removed from the Promise to Pay
3. Save Your Changes
Once you've removed all the invoices you no longer want included:
Click the Save button to apply your changes
The Promise to Pay will be updated with the remaining invoices only
Canceling a Promise to Pay Entirely
If you need to cancel the entire Promise to Pay rather than just removing invoices:
Remove all invoices from the Promise to Pay using Cancel promise to pay button
Click Cancel promise to pay at the bottom of the screen
Confirm the cancelation
The Promise to Pay status will change to Cancelled
Background Processing
When you remove invoices from a Promise to Pay, the changes are processed by a background task. This means:
The update happens asynchronously and may not be instant
Invoices may still appear to have the Promise to Pay associated with them immediately after saving
This is normal behavior and not an error it can take a few mins for the promise to pay to be removed from the invoices
