Turning off the "Dismiss task" confirmation in Task Manager

Choose whether Task Manager asks you to confirm each time you dismiss a task. Turn off the confirmation if you dismiss tasks often and want them dismissed in one click.

By default, Task Manager asks you to confirm before it dismisses a task. If you dismiss a lot of tasks, you can turn this confirmation off so a task is dismissed as soon as you pick Dismissed as its status. The setting is personal: it only changes how Task Manager behaves for you, not for the rest of your team.

Where to find it

  1. Open Task manager from the left-hand sidebar.

  2. Click the Settings button (the gear icon) in the top-right corner of the page, next to the page title.

  3. The Settings window opens. The Confirm before dismissing tasks switch sits below Set default view.

How it works

  • Switch on (default): when you change a task's Status to Dismissed, a Dismiss task window asks you to confirm. Click Dismiss to go ahead, or close the window to keep the task as it is.

  • Switch off: choosing Dismissed dismisses the task straight away, with no confirmation window.

In both cases the dismissed task leaves your queue and Task Manager moves on to the next task.

Changing the setting

  1. Open the Settings window as described above.

  2. Click the Confirm before dismissing tasks switch to turn it off, or click it again to turn it back on.

The change saves as soon as you click the switch. There is no Save button. If the change cannot be saved, a Failed to save settings message appears and the switch goes back to its previous position, so try again.

Good to know

  • The setting is saved to your user, so it stays the same the next time you sign in. Each person on your team chooses for themselves.

  • The confirmation is on for everyone until they turn it off.

  • It only affects changing a single task's status to Dismissed. Bulk status updates from list view still show their own confirmation before anything is applied. See Bulk Actions in Task Manager.

  • If your saved settings cannot be loaded, Task Manager keeps asking for confirmation until they load.

  • Dismissing a task never deletes it. You can find and restore dismissed tasks at any time. See Understanding Dismissed Tasks & How to Recover Them.
