How to Assign an Action to a Colleague

Learn how to assign actions to colleagues, set due dates and instructions, and reassign actions when needed.

How to assign an action to a colleagu?

When you create a new action, you can assign it to a colleague before they see it β€” adding a due date and instructions at the same time. This is useful when you want to delegate work with full context rather than just dropping an action on someone.


How to do it

Open a new action and click Schedule / Assign in the top bar of the editor. This opens an assignment panel where you can set:

  • Assignee β€” search for a colleague or click "Assign to me"

  • Due date β€” when the action needs to be completed by

  • Instructions β€” any context the assignee needs to act on it

When you're done, click Assign. The panel closes, the action moves to the assignee's Pending section, and they receive a notification.


What the assignee sees

Once you assign the action, the task it belongs to automatically appears in the assignee's My Tasks queue. The task card shows a notification dot indicating there's a new action waiting for them. When they click on the task, they'll see the action in their Pending section with the New badge, your instructions, and the due date you set.


How to reassign an action

Hover over the action in the Pending section and click Edit. The Schedule / Assign button will be available in the top bar. Change the assignee, update the due date, or edit the instructions, then click Assign to confirm.
