Before starting the setup, request the following details from your bank’s treasury or cash management team.

Information Needed

Description

SFTP host address

The server address, for example sftp.yourbank.com

Port number

Usually 22

Username

Your SFTP login username

Private key file

A PPK file used for authentication

Passphrase

Optional password for the private key

Folder path

The directory where statement files are stored

File naming convention

How the bank names statement files

Having this information ready will speed up the setup process.

Setting Up the SFTP Connection

Step 1: Gather Your Connection Details

Collect all required SFTP details from your bank.

If you do not yet have a private key, the kolleno@support team can generate a public and private key pair for you.

You can also generate one yourself by following this guide:
Generate an SSH key for SFTP access

Step 2: Send the Details to the Kolleno Team

Email the following information to
support@kolleno.com

  • SFTP host address

  • Port number

  • Username

  • Folder path containing statement files

  • File format, usually ISO20022 CAMT.054

Do not send your private key or passphrase as plain text in an email.

Use a secure sharing service such as onetimesecret.com:

  1. Paste your private key or passphrase

  2. Generate a one-time link

  3. Include the link in your email to support@kolleno.com

The link expires after a single view to keep your credentials secure.

Step 3: Multiple Bank Accounts in One Folder

If your bank places statements for multiple accounts in the same SFTP folder, let the Kolleno team know how the files can be distinguished.

  • File name, for example including an account number

  • Separate subfolders for each account

This ensures each statement is imported into the correct bank account in Kolleno.

Step 4: Confirmation and Testing

Once the details are received, the Kolleno team will:

  1. Test the SFTP connection

  2. Verify statement files can be detected and downloaded

  3. Confirm the setup is complete

You will be notified once everything is working.

What Happens Next

After setup, Kolleno will automatically check the SFTP server every hour and import new bank statement files as they become available.
