Apply tags across levels. For example, a customer-level workflow can apply a tag to the customer's invoices, and an invoice-level workflow can tag the parent customer giving you greater flexibility when building automation logic.
Available Tag Targets by Workflow Type
The tag target dropdown in your workflow action now offers the following options depending on your workflow's trigger level:
Workflow Trigger Level | Available Tag Targets |
Customer-level | Customer (unchanged) + Invoice (new) |
Invoice-level | Invoice (unchanged) + Customer (new) |
Custom-record-level | Customer + Invoice (unchanged) |
Payment-charge-level (Kolleno Payments) | Customer + Invoice + PaymentCharge |
Adding a Cross-Level Tag Action to a Workflow
Go to Settings → Workflows and open the workflow you want to edit, or create a new one.
Add an Add Tag (or Remove Tag) action step.
In the action configuration, open the Tag target dropdown.
Select the desired target level — for example, select Invoice on a customer-level workflow to apply the tag to that customer's invoices.
Choose the tag(s) you want to apply.
Save and activate the workflow.
Important Notes
Cross-level tags are applied to all relevant records associated with the triggering entity. For example, applying an invoice tag from a customer-level workflow will tag all invoices belonging to that customer at the time the workflow runs.
The default behaviour (same-level tagging) is preserved existing workflows are unaffected unless you explicitly change the tag target.
Payment-charge-level workflows support all three targets: Customer, Invoice, and PaymentCharge.
