Setting Up Contact Follow Up Triggers for Workflows

How to target a specific contact and their invoices using Contact Follow Up workflow filters.

This guide explains how to build a workflow that targets a specific customer contact and only triggers on invoices that meet your conditions.


Creating the Workflow

Step 1: Open Automation

  1. Go to Automation

  2. Create New Workflow

  3. Select When a transaction matches certain conditions.

  4. Contact Follow Up


Step 2: Add Contact Filters

Use filters to identify the exact customer contact you want to target.

Example:
Where → Contact email → Is → joe@joe.com

This ensures the workflow only triggers for the specific contact you select.


Step 3: Enable Target Specific Invoices

When enabled, the workflow evaluates invoices for that contact and includes only those matching your conditions.

Example:
Where → Inv. balance → Is greater than → 0

The workflow will ignore any invoice that does not match your invoice rules.


Step 4: Adding a Send Email Action

When you add a Send Email step, the Contact in workflow is automatically assigned as the recipient.

This ensures each email is sent directly to the customer contact filtered at the start of the workflow.
