Why the Stripe ACP Fee Doesn’t Appear in the ERP Deposit

ACP fees are deducted from the next payout, not the current one, so they won’t show in the ERP deposit.

When processing Alternative Currency Payouts (ACP) through Stripe, you might notice that the ACP fee doesn’t appear in the corresponding deposit record created in your ERP. This is expected behaviour, due to how Stripe applies and settles ACP fees.

🧾 What Is an ACP Fee?

The Alternative Currency Payout (ACP) fee is a 1% fee Stripe charges when you receive payouts in a currency different from your account’s default currency (the “home” currency of your Stripe account). This fee applies to the converted amount, not the original payment amount.

For example:

  • Your Stripe account is set to USD.

  • A customer pays you in USD.

  • You opt to receive payouts in EUR.

In this case, Stripe will apply an ACP fee when settling funds in USD, since it differs from your account’s default GBP currency.

🕒 When the Fee Is Applied

The ACP fee is not deducted at the time the payout is created. Instead:

  1. The customer’s payment appears in your Stripe available balance in the original payment currency.

  2. When Stripe processes the next payout in the alternative currency, it:

    • Converts the balance into your chosen payout currency.

    • Applies the 1% ACP fee to the converted amount.

    • Deducts this fee from your Stripe balance.

  3. This fee is reflected in your Stripe balance history and typically appears in the next payout, not the current one.

👉 This timing difference is why the ERP deposit does not show the ACP fee line at the moment the payout is created.

📊 Where to See the ACP Fee in Stripe

You can view these fees directly in your Stripe Dashboard:

  1. Go to Transactions → All activity.

  2. Use the filter for transaction type: “Stripe Fees”.

  3. Look for line items referencing Alternative Currency Payout fees. These will correspond to the conversion costs deducted during the payout settlement process.
