While it is possible to create tables using the Smart Fields, we do realize that in certain cases it’s just quicker to copy and paste some data from an Excel spreadsheet. In this tutorial we will focus on how to correctly insert an Excel spreadsheet into an email using the Kolleno Rich Text Editor.

Lets take a look at the example table in Excel:

Although it is a very basic example we can see that we have some formatting applied to the header row, specifically a background colour and font colour. There is also currency formatting on the Amount Outstanding values.

Before we copy the table to insert into Kolleno RTE we need to double check the following:

  1. Are all my columns formatted correctly? For example, are all the columns wide enough to view the data?

  2. Do I require any borders on my table data?

  3. Is all the text justified correctly?

If we ignore those three items our table will look like the example below in Kolleno:

Let’s fix that by updating the column widths, adding some borders, and updating the text alignment in Excel.

With the formatting updated in Excel we can now again copy and paste the table into Kolleno:
